Nominations Platform UX Design: Simplifying Primetime Emmy Submissions
Overview
My team and I led a comprehensive redesign and development of the Television Academy’s Nominations Platform. This transformation revolutionized how Emmy nominations were submitted and managed, simplifying the process for industry professionals while equipping the Academy’s administrative team with powerful management tools. The project aimed to provide a seamless, scalable, and intuitive experience that met the needs of multiple user groups while maintaining accuracy, efficiency and security around this sensitive content.
Objective
Redesign and develop a scalable, user-friendly nominations platform that streamlined the Emmy submission process for content creators and provided administrative tools for Television Academy staff to manage categories, fees, and results effectively.
My Role
Lead UX/UI Designer & Agency Manager
- Led UX/UI strategy and development for a multi-audience platform serving both Primetime Emmy Nominations submitters and administrators.
- Conducted requirements gathering, stakeholder interviews, and research workshops to define platform needs.
- Designed and prototyped wireframes and high-fidelity UI.
- Managed the design and development process, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements.
- Collaborated closely with engineering teams to ensure smooth implementation and a successful phased launch.
Methods
- Research & Discovery: Conducted extensive stakeholder interviews and requirements analysis to define platform objectives and priority.
- Wireframing & Prototyping: Created interactive prototypes to validate user flows and secure stakeholder buy-in alongside operational feasibility.
- Collaboration with Engineering: Worked closely with developers to ensure the design translated seamlessly into a functional system and how to plan the phases of development in order to meet project goals.
